A reading achievements app rewards the reading you have done, and ReadFirst's medals do it for printed books, page by page. There are 60 of them on the Awards tab. Some come early, like your first 100 pages. Some take a year or more, like 500 days in a row. Each one marks a moment when you became a bit more of a reader.

The medals are earned with the same pages that open your apps. ReadFirst locks the apps you choose until you read a page of a printed book, so every medal stands for real time spent with a book instead of a feed.

How it works

Read, count your pages, and the medals follow on their own.

  1. Read your printed book and count the pages with a live page photo.
  2. ReadFirst checks your reading against all 60 medals.
  3. When you earn one, a short award show plays after your reading step.
  4. The medal turns into a 3D coin on the Awards tab and appears in the awards row on Today.
  5. Tap it to see the coin up close and share it as an award card.

60 medals in 8 sections

The Awards tab sorts the medals into eight sections, each with its own path:

From Bronze to Obsidian

Every medal has a tier, and the long paths climb through all of them. The nine-step ladders for Pages, Books, Days in a Row and Goal Days go two Bronze, two Silver, two Gold, two Platinum and then one Obsidian at the top. Reading Days go Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Platinum and Obsidian. The repeatable and special medals are Gold.

The three secret medals are struck in Black Gold, a finish you see nowhere else on the Awards tab. If you would rather be surprised, skip the next paragraph.

They are Cover to Cover (start and finish a book on the same day), Comeback (read again after a break of 7 days or more) and Book Rush (finish 5 books in 30 days).

ReadFirst Today screen: Read first. Then scroll. The book in progress, app time left today and apps locked until you read
Today shows the next medals within reach, right below your book.

A coin, a moment and a card

Each medal is a 3D coin with a struck motif. When you earn one, a short award show plays right after your reading, with a motivating line like "7 days. 7 goals. Not one missed." for a Perfect Week.

Your medals also show in an awards row on the Today tab, so what you earned greets you the next time you open the app. Every medal can be shared as an award card.

Your past reading counts

If you read with ReadFirst before medals arrived, you do not start from zero. Medals you had already earned from your reading history are granted quietly, so your 1,000 pages and your 30-day streak are on the Awards tab from the start.

Medals that work with the app lock

ReadFirst is an app lock and a reading tracker in one. You set a rule, for example one page for 15 minutes in your locked apps, and you read to open them. The medals turn that daily trade into something you can see growing. See read to unlock for how the lock works.

If you only want to track your reading for now, set the minutes in your rule to 0. In Track only, every page counts for your book, your goal and your medals. All 60 are open to you.

Who it's for

ReadFirst's reading medals suit adults who read printed books and enjoy a little game on the side: people who like collecting, people who need a reason to read on a tired evening, and readers who want proof of a year well spent. Seeing the next medal 40 pages away is often what gets the book open.

If you want badges for e-books, audiobooks or reading challenges with friends, a social reading app may suit you better. ReadFirst's medals count pages of printed books.
